As global climate change intensifies, the livestock and aquatic sector, a crucial part of the agricultural food system, is facing unprecedented challenges. The increased frequency of extreme weather events, rising sea levels, loss of biodiversity, and resource scarcity driven by climate change pose severe threats to the sustainable development of livestock and aquatic sector. At the same time, the livestock and aquatic sector itself is one of the significant sources of greenhouse gas emissions, having a considerable impact on global climate change.
In order to thoroughly explore the issue of sustainable development in the livestock and aquatic food sector under the context of climate change and to develop innovative strategies, policies and technologies, Institute of Food and Nutrition Development (IFND), Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China; the Academy of Global Food Economics and Policy (AGFEP) at China Agricultural University (CAU) are jointly hosting this session. The discussions will cover, but are not limited to, the challenges and difficulties of the green transition in the livestock and aquatic production, the evolution of consumption, future trends and outlooks, and opportunities for collaboration.
It is expected that this conference will bring together diverse expertise to jointly explore scientific and practical recommendations for the sustainable development of the livestock and aquatic sector and strategies to address global climate change.
