Climate Change: Innovations in Agricultural Adaptation and Mitigation
I.About the Forum
Agriculture is one of the sectors most affected by climate change. Climate change leads to temperature increase, changes in precipitation patterns and more frequent occurrence of extreme weather events, and all these will have far-reaching impacts on agricultural and food production. Against this backdrop, the 2024 World Agriculture Forum (WAFI) is themed around "Climate Change and Food Systems Transformation," with a pre-conference spotlight on " Climate Change: Innovations in Agricultural Adaptation and Mitigation". This parallel session aims to foster a deeper scientific understanding of how climate change impacts agriculture and to explore innovative technological strategies for adaptation and mitigation. It seeks to facilitate an exchange of knowledge and best practices among leaders in agriculture, climate science, and technology.
The parallel session will consist of keynote presentations and dialogues. In Keynote Presentations, prominent speakers will deliver insights on the latest research findings regarding the impact of climate change on agriculture and the potential of innovative technologies to build resilience and sustainability in the sector. In Dialogues and Panel Discussions, interactive sessions will encourage dialogue on the following key topics: (1) The current state of climate change's impact on global agriculture; (2) Strategies for upscaling successful initiatives and technologies; (3) Policy frameworks that support agricultural innovation in the face of climate change; (4) Innovative technological solutions for climate-resilient agriculture.
