Parallel Session: Institutional Innovations for Transforming Agrifood Systems
I.About the Forum
Agricultural cooperatives have become a key management system in agricultural production globally, playing a crucial role in promoting agricultural modernization and transforming agri-food systems. Due to variations in agricultural production and historical traditions, agricultural cooperatives in the United States, Europe, and East Asia have developed distinct forms and features. In China, agricultural cooperatives have continuously evolved to address the changing needs of agricultural development. Today, new agricultural institutional systems have emerged, characterized by innovations and diverse entities, such as family farms, specialized farmers' cooperatives, and socialized service providers. These entities possess strong learning capabilities and adaptability to new agricultural technologies, making them pivotal in promoting sustainable, low-emission agricultural development through the integration of production, education, and research.
The conference will bring together domestic and international experts, scholars, representatives from agricultural cooperatives, enterprises and financial industry to share innovative practices in promoting agri-food system transformation. Discussions will focus on how agricultural cooperatives and service organizations can leverage modern technology in planting, management, storage, transportation, processing, and sales to empower new agricultural management entities and drive sustainable agri-food system transformation.
