Chief Executive Officer Asia
Melody Wan was appointed Chief Executive Officer, Asia, of Rabobank, as of March 1st, 2023.
Melody joined Rabobank in June 2020 and was the Regional Head of Wholesale Clients and Regional Head of Wholesale before her appointment as Regional CEO. As the world’s most populous region, Asia is a pivotal part of the global Food & Agriculture (F&A) value chain, which our Asia Connector Strategy is integral in generating growth for. As Asia CEO, Melody is committed to leading the Rabobank Asia franchise to execute the Connector Strategy to bring our global network and F&A expertise to our clients in Asia, and amplify Asia’s presence beyond its shores. She is also focused on delivering quality business growth, contributing to the Rabobank group strategy of becoming the global F&A Bank of choice, and strengthening our regional performance, while managing our risk exposure and regulatory practices. In line with our mission of growing a better world together, Melody also aims to generate relevant and meaningful sustainability progress in the region through driving relevant and meaningful sustainability progress in the region by stepping up our efforts on client outreach and community engagement.
Melody brings with her over two decades of professional experience as a banking operator, featuring exposure towards multicultural environments and numerous leadership roles both in business development and governance functions. She started her banking career back in February 2001 when she joined Citibank as a management trainee and worked with the organization in Shanghai, Hong Kong, New York and Beijing in roles in risk management, structured finance, strategy and coverage. In April 2007, Melody joined ING in Hong Kong and was responsible for its Greater China Financial Institution business operating out of Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei.
In between ING and Rabobank, Melody was with Bank of America for nearly 10 years, with her last role dual-hatting as Chief Executive of its Hong Kong Branch and Head of Corporate Banking. She is also a registered Executive Officer with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and a Licensed Representative with the Securities and Futures Commission.
